EVIDENCE OF SEMANTIC AND FACE VALIDITY OF THE SAFE CHILDBIRTH VIDEO CASE: A METHODOLOGICAL STUDY

ABSTRACT Objective To conduct semantic validation and face validation of educational technology in the form of a video case study titled “Raising professionals’ awareness of the use of the safe childbirth checklist.” Methods This was a methodological study. An instrument adapted and validated for content was applied to perform semantic validation, and a face validation of the video case was conducted. The study population consisted of 33 nursing professionals working at an Obstetric Center in the Federal District, Brazil. In data analysis, a consensus threshold of 70% was used. Results The consensus obtained for semantic validation among the professionals was 99.5% regarding the sum of ratings 3 and 4 on the Likert scale, corresponding to “agree” and “strongly agree,” respectively. Regarding the face validation, the safe childbirth video case study achieved full consensus and demonstrated its suitability for use as an educational tool. Conclusion It was found that video case studies can serve as an educational tool for healthcare teams and students through training and certification programs that utilize video, which is highly effective in promoting the use of the safe childbirth checklist.
