The Oxford Handbook of Belgian Politics

Abstract The Oxford Handbook of Belgian Politics provides a unique and comprehensive overview of the current state of academic research on Belgian politics, policies, and polity. Organized into five main sections, it explores existing knowledge and research on the historical development and core features of the political system, institutional design and reform, main social and political actors, major societal and political challenges, and key public policy dynamics. In each chapter, a diverse set of scholars assesses how the study of the Belgian case has contributed to the literature and enhanced our understanding of Belgium’s evolution over time. The authors also reflect on what remains to be better understood and propose key avenues for future research.
