Communication with People who are Deafblind

Abstract This book presents research on the assessment and intervention of communication in people who are deafblind, based on the most important studies of the last two decades. It brings together relevant information from the fields of congenital and acquired deafblindness. The goal of this volume is to bridge the gap between research and practice by transforming research findings, theoretical models, and concepts into valuable implications for educational and rehabilitation practice. The book is divided into six sections: Identification and genetics of deafblindness; Assessment; Social interaction and behavior; Communication, development, and interventions; Dialogical approaches to communication; and Tactile communication and language.
